MUSSOORIE, August 30

The eastern Frontier team was declared the winner of the 8th Inter-Frontier Karate Championship held at the ITBP grounds on Thursday. North East Frontier team was adjudged the first runners-up and Northern West Frontier team was declared the second runners-up in a keenly contested championship that concluded here. In the Black Belt individual category head Constable Vijayanta won the gold medal and in the Brown belt category constable Rahul Yadav was adjudged the winner.

In total 97 participants from five frontiers namely Northern frontier, Eastern frontier, North Western Frontier, North East Frontier and training Zone took part in the competition.

The objective of the competition was to sharpen the skill and talent of Jawans in this important stream of Marshal Art besides selecting the players for international and national competitions. The jawans demonstrated various defense and attack techniques during the competition.  The chief guest, Bri (Dr), Ram Niwas VSM Dy. Director ITBP Academy, formally announced the closure of the competition. Commandant Venu Nayak (Trg), Dr Rohit Nautiyal CMO (SG),Dr Richa Mishra CMO and many other senior officer were present on the occasion.
