Bus falls in gorge near Mindath in Tehri District

The incidents of accidents in the hilly region of the state are not stopping from being repeated despite the tall claims of road safety being made by the state government.

 In another tragic incident a Mini-bus fell in deep gorge near Mindath area at Charpani Tok road in Narendra Block of district Tehri, at around 8.00 am on Tuesday, resulting in two dead and 33 injured.

The local police team along with the SDRF sleuths rushed to the spot and conducted a rescue operation.

Out of 33 injured 22 have suffered minor injury and have been discharged after being given first aid treatment. The 11 injured have been referred to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh for further treatment.

According to the police the incident occurred around 8.00 am when the Bus Number UK-07PC-0323 lost control and fell around 10 to 15 meter in deep gorge. Around 35 persons were boarded in the bus out of which two women have been reported dead.

The Speaker Uttarakhand Assembly Prem Chandra Agarwal on hearing the tragic news rushed to the AIIMS hospital at Rishikesh and enquired about the treatment being given to the injured. He gave necessary directions to the district administration and directed to ascertain the cause of the accident.

According to the injured they were in the bus suddenly the bus jumped due to some shock and the next second they were rolling down the gorge. The whole incident occurred within seconds. The bus on its way down broke the parapet that was installed few days back.
