MUSSOORIE, August 18

Summer Valley School, Dehradun won the overall trophy for the literary festival ‘Le Mot Juste’ hosted by Wynberg Allen School in different venues of the school on Saturday. Rashtriya Indian Military College RIMC, Dehradun stood as the runner up in the competition. Christopher. C. Doyle the guest of honour on the occasion known for his best sellers with   famous works being “The Mahabharat Quest Series”, “The Mahabharat Secret” and “The Pataala Prophecy Series” gave away the trophies and certificates to the winners. Wynberg – Allen, being the host school did not compete for the positions and prizes.

The literary fest was organised in a number of categories. Various events in the fest included the T.W. Phillips and Dr G.D. Lehmann Memorial English Debates, H.G. Meakin Memorial Inter-School Hindi Debate and Rev. Biggs Memorial Spelling Bee competition. Around eleven schools from the states of Uttarakhand and Himachal participated in the various competitions.

In T.W. Phillips Memorial English Debate Cadet Dhruv Dahiya of RIMC, Dehradun was awarded the best speaker for speaking in favour of the motion while Shrishti Nautiyal of Doon International School won the prize for the best speaker for the opposition. The award for the best Rebuttal was given to Cadet Dhruv Dahiya of the RIMC. In the Dr G.D. Lehmann Memorial English Debate Nupur Sharma from The Lawrence School, Sanawar was awarded the best speaker for the motion as well as for the rebuttal, while Ananya Kohli of the same school won the prize for the best speaker for the opposition. In the H.G. Meakin Memorial Inter-School Hindi Debate Shrey Pokhariyal of Summer Valley School, Dehradun awarded the best speaker for the motion, while Subhdeep Bhattacharjee of the same school won the prize for the best speaker for the opposition. The award for the best Rebuttal was given to cadet Aman Vishvakarma of RIMC, Dehradun.

Gauri Aditya Kriti Pal of Doon International School, Anurag Vipin of RIMC, Cadet Ashish  Padhy of RIMC and Vatsal Payaal of Summer Valley School stood winners in the Rev. Biggs Memorial Spelling Bee competition.

The trophy for the T.W. Phillips Memorial English Debate School was awarded to RIMC, Dehradun, while The Lawrence School, Sanawar won the trophy for the Dr G.D. Lehmann Memorial English Debate. Summer Valley School, Dehradun was declared the winner in the H.G. Meakin Memorial Inter-School Hindi Debate competition. Rev. Biggs Memorial Spelling Bee competition was won by the Summer Valley School, Dehradun.

The jury consisted of Christopher C. Doyle, Rev. Lazurus Cornelius, Commander Prakash Mehrotra, Ganesh Saili, Dr. Sudhir Gairola, Principal Wynberg Allen school L. Tindale, Abha Saili, T. Cashmore and P. Radcliffe.
