Three persons were dead in a tragic incident where a boulder fell on the Max vehicle sending it toppling in the river below the road on Dadamandi-Dugadda road at around 2.00 pm on Sunday. The continuous incessant rains have loosened the top soil on the mountains posing danger to the commuters.
According to the disaster emergency control centre the three were travelling in A Max Jeep number UK 12 TB 1352 that was heading to Dugadda from Dadamandi when the incident occurred. Three persons in the car died on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Kapil Kumar (24) s/o Baburam Chini Mandi, Najibabad and presently residing at Dugadda, Harshita (16) daughter of Mohan Singh, village Kandai, Pati Seela, tehsil Kotdwar and Priti Devi (30) wife of Jitendra village Jwada, Patti langur, tehsil Lansdowne. DM Pauri Sushil Kumar has expressed his grief at the death. The district Magistrate has sounded alert to the commuters considering the MET department forecast of heavy rains in next 48 hours and had asked them to stay indoors. The soil in the mountains has loosened up due to the continuous rains making travelling on the road to Pauri and other areas making commuting a dangerous proposition.
