DEHRADUN, August 4
The heavy rains lashing since Friday night has led to widespread damage to property and agriculture land in rural areas of Dehradun district forcing the administration to scurry to salvage the situation.
According to the district emergency control centre and irrigation department the overnight heavy rains resulting in the Song river changing its course towards the village and the agriculture land in Gauri Mafi Tehsil of the Dehradun district. The administration rushed to the spot and deployed four JCB machines on the right banks of the river to stop it from changing its course. The district administration officials said that the work was on to salvage the precarious situation. Kuldeep Kumar Junior Engineer informed that at present the using four JCB machines course of the river that was changed has been rectified and the water levels have also come down considerably.
Triggered by the heavy rains the danger of the Suswa river changing its course also lurked on the villages Badhkali, Dudhli, Tehsil Doiwala, Khatta pani, early morning on Saturday. The district administration rushed to the spot with two JCB machines to stop the river changing its course. The Junior Engineer deployed at the spot Sachin Tomar informed that the water levels have receded presently, and the river was running its normal course but they were keeping a close watch on the situation. 23 Motor roads and one state highway is shut for traffic and the work was on to restore connectivity.
