MUSSOORIE, July 11

Mussoorie Police has apprehended two persons who were impersonating as police officer in uniform and indulging in extortion in the name of serving challan in Mussoorie on Wednesday.

The police have registered the case under IPC section 417 and 384 and has sent them to be produced in the court. According to Mussoorie Police incharge, Bhavna Kainthola on the complaint by local residents that two persons dressed as cops were harassing people and extorting money in name of traffic violation in the town. The Police acting swiftly formed a team and caught the two persons who have been identified as Ravi Dhiman s/o Jeet Singh Dhiman resident of Hathi Badkala Dehradun and Vansh Walia s/o Pramod Walia resident of Meerpur Mohan Pur Nagal Sahranpur. The two dressed as police constables were extorting money from the commuters local and tourist alike from last evening and were threatening to impose fines if they were not given the money.

When asked the two accused said that they have not done anything and are being framed by the Police.
