The residents of Garhi cantonment board Dakra irked at the undeclared power cut going on since past one month, demonstrated against the electricity department at the Uttarakhand Power Corporation office  and organised a sit in protest on Monday.

 BJP leader Devendra Pal Singh said that people from the past month have been battling the power crisis due to undeclared power cuts but no attention is being given to by the officials even after being informed. He said due to the negligence of the power department officials the people were forced to live in dark from past one month at night. He said that the traders running Milk, Sweets, ice-cream, Bakery units were the major sufferers due to the power crisis and were being forced to suffer economically. On being informed of the sit in the EE North V.K. Singh, Deputy zonal officer P.S. Bisht Garhi Cantt reached the office and interacted with the BJP leaders who alleged that due to negligence of the officers the people were suffering due to undeclared power cut and such officer will not be tolerated in the state and the chief minister will be apprised about the matter.  The BJP leaders also apprised the Managing Director Power Corporation B.C.K. Mishra about the situation on phone who assured of an investigation in the matter. The EE North V.K. Singh has asked for two days to rectify the problem to which BJP leaders responded that if the problem is not resolved then they will carry out a massive agitation against the department concerned. Vishnu Prasad, Mata, Prabha Shah, Rekha Thapa, T.D. Bhutia and other BJP leaders were present on the occasion.
