MUSSOORIE, June 19
The four-member committee from Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEF & CC) constituted as per directions of Forest Advisory Committee under the APCCF, regional office Bhopal will be reaching Mussoorie on 21 June, to discuss the issue of allowing construction of Residential and Dwelling houses in private forest and located areas falling under the jurisdiction of Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA).
The committee will be deliberating on the issue of guidelines under FCA1980 for diversion of forest land for construction of residential building with the stakeholders such as representatives of MDDA, Revenue department and local bodies, Owners’ Association and any other organisations concerned. According to the MDDA AE S.S. Rawat the committee will be meeting at Royal Orchid Hotel near Big bend in Mussoorie and would be hearing out the stakeholders. The residents of the town have welcomed the move and are of the view that the residential housing problem has become alarming due to the forest laws and it was time that some relaxation is given for constructing residential houses considering the growing population of the town.
