MUSSOORIE, May 31
The hill town of Mussoorie was declared smoking free zone on Tobacco Control Day during a function held at Garhwal Terrace on Thursday.
It was also announced that the sale of tobacco products around 100 yards of educational institutions will be prohibited in the town. MLA Mussoorie Ganesh Joshi also unveiled the symbolic plaque showing that Mussoorie has been declared smoking free zone. He also administered pledge to the people gathered here to stay away from tobacco products on the occasion. MLA Ganesh Joshi in his address appealed to tourists and the residents alike to support the town in making it smoking free zone. He said that by staying away from tobacco products they would be saving themselves from the dreaded diseases related to it and help in reduction of air pollution.
He presented awards to Police Station Incharge Bhavna Kainthola and former Mussoorie Police Station Incharge Rajiv Rauthan on the occasion.
