MUSSOORIE, May 31
In a rare gesture of solidarity, the Additional Secretary Health from Assam Government Arun Goyal who was in Mussoorie on personal visit donated a unit of blood during the blood donation camp held at Rama Devi Inter college premises under the aegis of Rotary Club Mussoorie on Thursday. He appealed to others also to donate blood so that human lives can be saved in the process.
Around 162 Units of blood was collected during the blood donation camp held here. The blood donation camp started early morning in which the Jawans from ITBP and the people from various walks of life participated in the camp with enthusiasm.
The camp was inaugurated by Uttarakhand Additional Secretary Health Jugal Kishore Pant who commended the efforts of the Rotary club members. He said that these days there is shortage of blood in the blood banks and it was heartening to find that citizen of Mussoorie were aware towards the importance of donating blood. Through this camp that shortage of blood will overcome to certain extent. When asked about the delay in the construction of the combined hospital at the site of old civil hospital he said that efforts will be made to provide the financial approval so that the building work is completed.
The coordinator of the camp Sandeep Sahni demanded shifting of the mortuary to other place as the structure was in dilapidated state where the power and water supply system were absent. He also said that taking the body for postmortem was a herculean task due to narrow foot path leading to mortuary. Additional Secretary directed the officials to look for a new place near the old mortuary site.
Blood Coordinator Vijay Sagar Bhardwaj, Amit Chand, Mohit Chawla, Dr. Prateek Sharma, Anuj Tayal, Rajat Agarwal Satish Dhaundiyal Jagjit Kukreja, Dhanparkash and others were present on the occasion.
