DEHRADUN, May 12
In a major blow to the Uttarakhand BJP government, Teerath Purohit community in Kedarnath has decided to observe fast every Monday in opposition to the state government dismal attitude towards their concerns.
Teerath Purohit community in Kedarnath has alleged state government dismal attitude towards their concerns. They have also asked the state government to take them into confidence in the reconstruction activities.
Vinod Shukla President Kedar Purohit Sabha disclosed that the priests have been completely sidelined in the construction activities being undertaken by the state BJP government at Kedarnath. He said the state government was trying to interfere in the traditional architecture and trying to distort the century old traditions.
He said the Kedarnath priest community have now been left with no other option that to take course of agitation and have decided to observe fast every Monday from now as mark of protest. He also asserted that Kedarnath should be kept above party politics.
Joining the issue, Krishna Bagwari said the entire structure of Kedarnath complex is being given a new look which was totally against the traditions. He said due to faulty policies of state government, employment opportunities of locals have also shrunk.
