MUSSOORIE, May 3

The Mussoorie Municipal board president Manmohan Singh Mall inaugurated the community center at Barlowganj as his tenure as president of one of the richest boards in North India came to end on Thursday.

Manmohan Singh Mall not wasting time even on the last day of his tenure said that the long-standing demand of the community center at Barlowgunj has been fulfilled on Thursday. The ward member from the area Shivani Bharti said that the community center was one of her poll promises which she has been able to fulfill here. She said that a sewing center for women and a computer training center will be opened for the benefit of the people of the ward so that they are able to earn their livelihood. She said that she has been able to deliver on the promises made by her for the ward.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Board president Manmohan Singh Mall thanked the people for their support to the board during his five-year tenure here. He said that he has worked for development of the town and the booklet released by him earlier highlights all the works done by him as the president of the board. He said that the issues such as parking, drinking water could be fulfilled because as these come under the state government and he had very little say despite reminding the government repeatedly of these problems. He said that he was ready to face the voters again in forthcoming elections from Congress ticket.

With the tenure of the present Municipal board coming to end on Thursday the onus of running the Municipal board affairs will fall on the administrator in this case DM Dehradun who generally assigns the task to subordinate officers who happens to be SDM Mussoorie. SDM Mussoorie Meenakshi Patwal said that she has not received any order for the same but was ready to work in any capacity as per the directions of the DM Dehradun. With the Municipal Board tenure coming to an end now all eyes are on  the administrator to resolve the issues facing the hill town of Mussoorie.
