Swach Bharat Divas was celebrated in Chamoli district on Wednesday under the ongoing nationwide Gram Swarajya Campaign that started on April 14 and will continue till 5th May.
The cleanliness drive was carried out in all government, non-government offices and gram panchayats in the district. A special cleanliness campaign at the district administration premises was carried out under the leadership of DM Chamoli Ashish Joshi.
The students from Government girls inter college took out a rally to create awareness towards cleanliness at the district headquarter. The gram Swarajya officer Hansa Dutt Pandey who is the nodal officer of the campaign and PD DRDA Prakash Rawat flagged of the cleanliness rally from Government Girls Inter College. The students in the various development blocks also took out the cleanliness rally and organised talks to create awareness towards the cleanliness campaign.
The main program was held at the auditorium in Gairsain block auditorium where in the workshop the stress was laid on promoting the cleanliness message in the rural areas. The information was given on effective solid waste management and segregation, ways to manage the polluted water in homes, the management of organic and inorganic waste in villages. Finding solution to the cattle excreta, vermin-composting, cow dung management etc. The intellectuals of the region, self help groups, Mangal Dals, Baal panchayat. The workers from BMA and development blocks participated in the program and kept their views. Nagar panchayat president Ganga Singh Panwar, Zila panchayat member Dhana Bisht, gram Pradhan Santosh Singh Mehervaan, Sajal project ofcier Laxman Rana, Girish Dimri, HS Rawat from gas Agency, BDO Jagat Singh, Mahila Mangal Dal Saliyan, Silangi, Sainji and Muso along with students from various schools were present on the occasion.
The talks were held under Namami Ganga project on Swach Bharat Divas in 29-Gram panchayats where the information was given about solid waste management, organic and inorganic waste management, the compost pit etc. On Swachta Divas was also observed in the Bheta Gram panchayat of Kalp region in Urgam valley where the discussion on solid waste management and construction of dustbin was discussed. The villagers from Bhenta also carried out cleanliness drive on voluntary basis.
