UTTARKASHI, April 13

DM Uttarkashi Dr Ashish Chauhan inaugurated the cycling ride event organised by District Tourism department with an objective to promote tourism in the district. The secretary Gangotri Mandir Samiti Devendar Singh Negi  flagged off the group of riders that was led by DM Uttarkashi, from Harsil to Gangotri.  DM Uttarkashi  got off from cycle at Jangla and wished the cyclist team for their journey till Gangotri, while he himself trekked from Jangla to Mukhba temple. He said that the cycling event was organised to promote tourism and all the religious tourist destinations have been linked with the event. He said all the roads in the district were safe for riding events. He said such events will help in providing employment to the locals and the local riders will get an opportunity to make a career in cycling.

Cyclist  Parshuram  was the first to reach Gangotri while Nakul, Rohit, Nirmal and teenagers Poornima and Priyanshi followed suit. Tourism officer Uttarkashi Prakash Khatri, social worker Dinesh Bhatt, Surendar Puri, R.S. Kalakoti, Mohit Ubhaan rode the bicycle at Gangotri and Harsil.  Tehsildar, Kanisht Pramukh Bhatwadi block, revenue inspector Vikram Singh Rana, and others officials were present on the occasion.

DM Uttarkashi following the Cycle riding event  trekked from Jangla to Mukhba temple and inspected the works being done on the  route to Gangotri. He took the stock of the work being done here and directed the PWD officials and SDM to repair it without any delay. He said that the Jalsa Palanquin of the Goddess Ganga will leave on foot for Gangotri from Mukhba temple on April 17 so it is imperative that the bridle path should be  repaired before the Ganga Doli yatra so that the pilgrims can pass through safely. Later he offered prayers at the Ganga Temple at Mukhba and sought blessings from the goddess for safe Chardham Yatra. He said his priority was to provide safe routes to the pilgrims during the Yatra.  He also inspected the works being done at Mukhba Village and heard the grievances of the  residents of the village on the occasion. He sought support from the villagers in successful management of the chardham yatra. He directed the PWD department officials to speed up the bridge construction work at Harsil. Mandir Samiti secretary Suresh Semwal, SDM Devnedra Singh Negi, R.S. Khatri, DOPRD V.P. Bhandari, revenue inspector Vikram Singh rana and other officials were present on the occasion
