Rally for awareness against reckless driving in Mussoorie
Mussoorie, March 24
A rally was organised by various political parties and organizations of the town to create awareness against from reckless driving, underage driving, driving during prohibited hours and to follow the traffic rules in the hill town of Mussoorie on Saturday.
The rally began from Tehri bus Stand and passing through Mall road ended at Gandhi Chowk. Residents of the town, young and old, participated in the rally carrying placards created educated people on the ills of drunken driving, reckless driving and driving beyond the prescribed speed limit in the town.
They also requested people to follow the traffic rules and asked two bike and scooter owners to use Helmet for their own safety.
The citizens also distributed pamphlets, on behalf of the Mussoorie Police, appealing to people to adhere to traffic rules. Shopkeepers on the Mall road were urged not to park their vehicles on the road in front of their shops. The member of the campaign also asked the vehicle owners to slow down their speed and be careful near schools to avoid any untoward incident.
They also asked the riders to avoid triple riding on two-wheelers and commute with valid licenses. The parents of the minors were asked to keep their wards away from driving the vehicles at any cost and to avoid plying on the Mall road during the restricted period between 5 to 10 pm.
Former municipal board president OP Uniyal, Shalabh Garg a social activist, Trader association president Rajat Agarwal and Paramjeet Kohli, Jagjit Kukreja from the association, eminent author Ganesh Saili , Sudhanshu, Rajat Sharma and Vipin Gunsola from Angaar youth group, Geeta Kumai, N.K. Sahni secretary of Senior Citizen Committee and other senior citizens including Pramod Sahni, Alok Malhotra, and others also participated in the rally.
It is to be noted that several accidents have occurred in recent past due to the reckless two-wheel driving resulting in outpouring of emotions in form of the rally.
