DEHRADUN, Feb 3

Governor, Dr. K.K. Paul alongwith Environmentalist Sunderlal Bahuguna, Padma Vibhushan on Saturday inaugurated the newly built Biodiversity Park in Dehradun.

The Governor while inaugurating enquired about the detailed information about different species of plants. He also held that the Regional Science Center is the ideal place for the popularization and implementing Scientific Temper in the state. Governor that quality trees of certain species can be planted in the Biodiversity Park, which helps in purification of polluted water.

“It is stated in the constitution of India under the fundamental duties that the scientific temperament in the society should come up with the awaking and thus bringing the consciousness in the common folk.

Biodiversity Park consists of Nakshatra and Navgrah Vatika, Medicinal Species, Bamboo Species, Gymnosperm Species, including fodder species, agro species and variety of tree plantations that are worth seeing and gives a good know about region’s biodiversity.

The concept of Biodiversity Park was made by Uttarakhand State Science and Technology Council, for which the funds were given by Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Foundation, Dehradun and constructed and developed by the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun.
