Uttarakhand’s capital city of Dehradun is all set to get a new circuitous road that will to a big extent ease out the traffic hassles in the region.

The city of Dehradun by 2019 is expected to get a hundred and fourteen kilometre long Ring Road. The Ring Road will come as a big relief from day to day traffic jams experienced in the city that cause great inconvenience to both motorists and the pedestrians. Public Works Department in Dehradun has already sent a Detailed Project Report seeking Rs. Two hundred seventy crores from the state administration in order to provide compensation to those, whose land will be acquired for the purpose.

Ring road would be a vital link for a large numbers of villages and peri-urban localities falling in the periphery of Dehradun city. Public Works Department had some time back conducted a ground survey for as many as six months before finalising the project. As per an estimate around thirty five villages and peri urban localities will be benefited due to this Ring road. The exercise will include road widening, construction of small bridges and undergoing alignment works.

H.K. Upreti, a Chief Engineer PWD pointed out that if the things moved as per the plan, the Ring road will become a reality by 2019. He said targets have already been set and they are expected to pay the compensation within a year followed by construction of road that is to be completed by 2019.
