Uttarakhand forest authorities are yet to ascertain over the reasons that led to some of blue sheeps getting blind in the Kedartal region of Uttarakhand.

Following reports of some blue sheep inflicting blindness in the Gangotri National Park in Uttarakhand that came across the Border Security Force mountaineering team, state wildlife authorities in assistance with National Institute of Mountaineering volunteers had sent a team to Kedartal during the month of December to trace the affecting sheeps. But the team failed to make a mark.

One of the forest department officials and member of the team disclosed that despite extreme wintery conditions, the team members frantically searched for blue sheeps with affected eyes but could not find one and just got one half decomposed dead body of a blue sheep, which they have brought with themselves.  But this half decomposed body is of no use as far as laboratory examinations are concerned.

Taking into account the seriousness of the issue, it is all very important that Uttarakhand wildlife authorities take the matter with all seriousness and do not take the matter lightly.
