DEHRADUN, Jan 4
Former Union Minister Harish Rawat on Thursday staged sit in a Rudrapur in Uttarakhand accusing the state government of failing to address the concerns of the people of the state.
He in particular criticized the demolition being undertaken in Gadarpur area of Udham Singh Nagar district. He said there was no point in undertaking such large scale demolition exercise when already several of bypasses have been sanctioned for crowded market places in Rudrapur, Gadarpur and other adjoining places. Rawat said many of these by passes are already under construction. He also demanded immediate payment of compensation of those affected due to demolition drive.
Harish Rawat also took opportunity to blame incumbent state BJP government for pursuing anti people policies. He said Trivendra Rawat government of Uttarakhand was little concerned about the welfare of common people.
Large number of Congress leaders took part in the protest.
