MUSSOORIE, Dec 3
The Mussoorie Winterline carnival is beginning to shape, much like the beautiful Winterline in the December sky.
While two meeting have already been held, a third one in Mussoorie Saturday saw the DM, SDM and Uttarakhand tourism officials inspect the various sites for the programmes.
DM, S.A. Murugesan told eNewsDesk, “We will see what has been received well in the past and also include some new programmes. The idea is to have a good mix that everyone enjoys.”
The officials went to Jhoola Ghar, Vikas Hotel’s ground, Green Chowk and Garhwal Terrace.
Speaking to eNewsDesk SDM Mussoorie, Meenakshi Patwal said, “We have received an interesting array of artists show interest and hope to zero down on some good ones by Monday.”
The festival will see an Uttarakhandi food festival at Jhoola Ghar besides heritage walks, concerts, walks and exhibitions.
The Carnival being held for the fifth year, got its name from Winterline, a meteorological phenomenon that sees an imaginary horizon show up in the middle of October that usually lasts till January. Interestingly the Winterline is said to be visible in Burn in Switzerland and Mussoorie in Uttarakhand.
Sandeep Sahni, President of State Hotel and Restaurant association (HRAU) said, “Winterline is very unique phenomenon and we here in Mussoorie are blessed to experience it. The idea behind the Winterline Carnival was to bring back tourists after the 2013 disaster and in the process share this natural beauty with others. Over the years the Carnival has become a big success and we hope to outdo ourselves every year.”
We hope so too!
