It was BJP versus Congress on demonetization in Uttarakhand even as commoners were trying to assess its pros and cons one year after.
As per proposed programme, Congress in Uttarakhand took to streets to criticize demonetization. Congress workers in big numbers took to streets criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi on demonetization terming it as totally unwise step. The congress observed the day as Black day.
Addressing a gathering of party workers at Rajiv Bhawan in Dehradun, Uttarakhand Congress President Pritam Singh asserted that demonetization has adversely hit the country’s economy significantly reducing the employment opportunities and even making a large number of people lose jobs.
He said demonetization has come as a big shock for the people, who are still suffering even one year after it took place in the country as it has brought economy into shambles.
The congress also took out a protest rally against demonetization that criss crossed all the prominent roads of Dehradun city. One of the protesters, senior congress Mahesh Sachdeva asserted that people are today finding themselves cheated
On other hand, BJP leaders in the state rejoiced demonetization describing it as a historic step and a step towards curbing black money.
