DEHRADUN, Oct 31
Environmentalist and Gandhian, Chandi Prasad Bhatt has been bestowed with National Geographic CMS Prithvi Bhushan Award.
The award will be presented to Chandi Prasad Bhatt at the CMS Vatavaran festival in Delhi that starts from Nov 1. The award is presented to men and women who have been making difference to bring about change in perception towards environment and wildlife conservation are exceptional.
Chandi Prasad Bhatt is an Indian Gandhian environmentalist and social activist, who founded Dasholi Gram Swarajya Sangh (DGSS) in Gopeshwar in 1964, which later became a mother-organization to the Chipko Movement, in which he was one of the pioneers.
The Prithvi Bhushan Award has been established in 2015 to recognize and honour the outstanding contribution of an individual towards conservation of environment with demonstration of exemplary leadership, ground impact and uniqueness in approach.
