Tourists in Munsiyari this festival season have broken all previous records with more than 45 thousands tourists mostly Bengali tourists, having already reached the Himalayan tourist town till Wednesday.

The hotel association sources in Munsiyari disclosed that while 23,000 tourists reached Munsiyari in the year 2015 followed by 29,000 in the year 2016, that has now increased to 45,000 this year. “ The numbers seem increasing  as daily booking are  continuing  with hotels   and  home stay facilities in and around the town,” said  Jagdish Singh Rawat, hotel association head in Munsiyari.

“We have demanded from administration to repair Thal to Munsiyari road and local roads that lead to various tourists places of Munsiyari as these damaged roads can spoil the sojourn of the tourists who prefer to visit places of their interest situated  scattered  around the town,” said Jagdish Singh Rawat, president of Munsiyari association.

According to Rawat the high influx of tourist in Munsiyari has been caused due to unrest in traditional Bengali tourists places like Darjeeling and Kashmir. “ No hotel or home stay facility in  and around  Munsiyari  is  vacant between September 25 to October 20 this year as  all 35  tourists facilities   in Munsiyari Thal, Birthi  and  Madkot  have been booked by tourists” said the  hotel association  president.

Another Munsiyari hotelier Puran Pandey said that the hotel and restaurants have made wide preparation for their Bengali guests by making available several Bengali dishes like Bengal rice, Posto, fishes and Bengali Rasogulla for the tourists. “ We have  also  arranged  visits of the tourists to  Nanda Devi temple, Shauka museum, Saras market Thamari  kund, Mahesh Kund  and several hot water   springs  and Khalia bugyal (meadow)  situated near the town” said Pandey.
