PITHORAGARH, August 12
The 16th ongoing batch of Kailash Mansarowar Yatra was on Saturday diverted from Berinag to Dharchula base camp via Pithoragarh due to landslides on Berinag-Thal road near the town of Thal. The batch had to reach base camp Dharchula from Didiihat after having lunch there.
“The 47 members’ batch including 11 women pilgrims had to be sent to base Dharchula camp via Pithoragarh route as heavy landslides blocked the road from Berinag to Thal. The batch will begin its journey to first track route camp of Sirkha on Sunday,” said D.K. Sharma, a KMV officer.
According to KMVN sources, out of 18 pilgrim batches proposed for this year, 12 batches have completed their pilgrimage while batch no 13 and 14 are in Tibet, and the 15th and 16th batches are on ascending order from base camp.
