DEHRADUN, March 31:
S.N. Babulkar has been appointed new Advocate General of Uttarakhand. Orders to this effect were issued by Chief Secretary S. Ramaswamy through the Gopan Department. It would be second time that Babulkar would be holding this position in Uttarakhand.
Earlier, he held this post during the previous BJP Government. In the past, Babulkar has served as senior advocate in Allahabad and Nainital High Courts. He will replace Vijay Bahadur Singh appointed by Harish Rawat Government after the reinstatement of the Rawat Government last year.
Singh had replaced U.K. Uniyal appointed by Vijay Bahuguna as the Advocate General. However, since Uniyal being brother of then Congress leader and now BJP Minister Subodh Uniyal, Rawat was quick to replace him with Singh after the reinstatement of his government.
Babulkar is considered to be a seasoned advocate and has helped the government in various cases in the past.
