DEHRADUN March 19:
Dehradun based student activist group Making A Difference by Being the Difference (MAD), conducted a ‘Clothes Distribution Drive’ at Madrasi Colony, near Railway Station on March 19th.
The students decided to spread happiness amongst the residents by handing them clothes which the group had collected from doonites. The activity started at 11 in the morning and even before the sun blessed the city with its warmth, the youngsters had brightened up the faces of the economically backward people of the area.
“Every season we buy new clothes and throw away our old clothes. Some of these clothes are still in good condition and therefore we decided to make an appeal to the doonites to donate these clothes to us” said Vishal, a bright teenager who was very enthusiastic about the activity. Meenakshi, another MAD Member informed the reports that this was their sixth phase of the cloth distribution since the beginning of December. They have been approached by multiple residents throughout the city for donating old clothes. MAD had set up its donation boxes at various locations where these clothes were collected. This was followed by segregation and bundling of clothes as per the age-group of their probable recipients. “There cannot be anything better than to see the happiness on the faces of children who received the clothes this happiness makes all our efforts worthwhile.”said Prerna.
This activity saw an attendance of 25 volunteers from MAD who catered to the clothing needs of the Basti. Present in the activity were Karan Kapoor, Sharad Maheshwari, Shardul Aswal, Rashi, Shivam, Mayank, Abhishek Jaunsari, Vijay among others.
