Dehradun, 2 Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken cognisance of a young man from a Dehradun village and has promised development of his village. Ajay Kumar, aged 26 years and resident of Village Dudhli in Doiwala Block, is a social activist. Impressed by Modi’s dream of Digital India, he wanted his village Dudhli to also become part of digital India. He also dreamt of developing his village as a model village (Aadarsh Gram). However, being a student and a social activist with limited resources at hand, he felt his hands tied despite making sincere efforts towards the development of his village. In particular, he wanted the children of his village to avail the benefits of Digital India programme. Some months ago, on 2 June, 2016 in fact to be exact, he decided to write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to help Uttarakhand too in becoming part of Digital India Programme. Pointing out that no village or Gram Sabha of Uttarakhand had been included in the highly ambitious Digital India Programme, he wanted his village Dudhli to be developed as e-Gram and be also equipped with CSC Centre. He further appealed to the PM that his village be also connected with National Optical Fibre network and the only school located in the village be provided with a dependable internet connectivity with the facilities of smart class rooms.
When several months passed, Kumar lost hopes of an early action in this regard. However he was pleasantly surprised when on Thursday, he received a letter from the Prime Minister’s Office congratulating him for his dreams. Encouraging him to go ahead with his dreams, the letter from the PMO has promised action on his demand.
The letter has promised that his village would be connected to Delhi via the national optical fibre network and that the village would also be equipped with e-library with a stock of over 5 lakh e-books for the school children. The PMO has also promised establishing of a CSC Centre in the village that will offer services like PAN card and Aadhar Card registration, registration of births and deaths, caste certificates, proof of residence and domicile etc and e-payment of electricity and other government services bills etc.
